iFitness Belt Review & Giveaway

I am about halfway through my first half marathon training. (Exciting, huh?!) One of the first things I noticed was that I needed somewhere to store all the junk things I liked to carry on my training walks/jogs. I have to have my cell phone and iPod. Also, I realized that I wanted to experiment with energy gels but where the heck was I going to put them. Oh and I can't leave behind my keys or an ID. What's a girl to do??

Luckily Hailey over at iFitness, Inc. came to my rescue! She gave me the wonderful opportunity to try out the Ultimate II Running Belt to assist in training for my first race. I have been using the belt for a couple of months now and I am in love.

What's so great about the belt you ask. Well the Ultimate II Running Belt offers some fantastic features such as:

  • Water resistant pouch, stretchy and sturdy, made of neoprene will keep your cell phone or iPod (any size) dry.
  • 4 elastic slots will hold your gels on your belt, for easy access.
  • Additional side pocket perfect to hold an ipod, mp3 player, inhaler, house/car keys, sport beans, etc
  • A special inner pocket will keep your ID/credit cards or room key securely.
  • Comes with two reflector strips in the front and one in the back, for night time safety.
  • Also featured are two toggles to hold your race number, under the pouch.

The first thing I noticed about the belt is that it is sturdy but lightweight. I love the fact that it has a space for each item you may need so its nice, neat, and organized (just the way I like it).

There really is a spot for everything I like to carry. I was able to carry my old school iPod & headphones,  iPhone, slim wallet with ID & route directions, lip balm, and two gels.
The pocket that held my iPod was a bit snug but I have since upgraded to a smaller iPod so that is no longer an issue. I am able to access each pocket or holder without any issues even while in motion.

I have tested out the belt on walks/jogs ranging from 3-7 miles. Each time it has not let me down. It fits very well around my waist/hips and stays put! NO CHAFING EITHER!! I did not notice it was there which is a great feeling since I really do carry a lot. Since I am able to carry everything I need, it makes me feel safer since I am often doing my training alone. It really is water/sweat resistent. I sweat like nobodys business but my phone and iPod were nice and dry!

I am looking forward to using the toggles that allow me to attach my race bib without having to use safety pins on my nice workout tops.

The iFitness belt is available in different models so I am sure there is one to fit your needs. There is also a nifty hydration add on option as well which I may try in the future.

What are you waiting for...head on over to the iFitness website and purchase your own belt OR you can enter to win one here!!

The giveaway ends Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 11:59PM central time. Giveaway is open to US residents only!

I am trying out the new Rafflecopter system which should make entering the giveaway easy. Please contact me if you have any issues. I will be verifying to make sure you completed each entry.

Disclaimer: iFitness Inc sent me the iFitness Ultimate II Running Belt to review. I was not compensated in any way for this review and it is my honest opinion of the product.

Back to School Time!

Yes folks it is that time of year! Just to clarify I am not a student but I work on a college campus. The beginning of the school year is a very busy time!

This weekend we had our student leader retreat and I have been "living it up" in the country in my own 2 bedroom condo.

Half marathon update:
I worked out once this past week and it was on Monday. My body appreciated the rest. I am still focused and I'm ready to get back on it.

It will be challenge to manage everything now that I will be busy with work. I will not let ANYTHING keep me from reaching my goal of training for my first half marathon and completing the race.

My goal is to post at least once a week so bear with me and continue to follow my journey!

Half Marathon Week 7 Training Recap

I realized I did not mention my plan for this week so I will just tell you what happened!

  • Monday: 3.14 miles in 40 minutes on the treadmill
  • Tuesday: Rest
  • Wednesday: 3.12 miles in 36:50 minutes on the treadmill
    • I use Nike+ to track my distance so I am not 100% sure of the accuracy but the time & distance sure do look nice.
  • Thursday: Kickboxing class aka getting my butt kicked
    • The instructor has incorporated burpees into the routine. I hate them but I do them and I am actually surprised I can hang with the veterans of the class
  • Friday: Rest
  • Saturday: PERSONAL DISTANCE RECORD DAY!
    • Well I guess form here on out each long run will be a personal distance record.
    • Anywho, I did a whopping 8.18 miles! It took me almost 2 hours but I did it and I am proud!
    • I also saw the Glee concert movie. OK you can stop judging me now. It was fun and just a happy upbeat addition to my Saturday.
  • Sunday: Rest unless you count my 3 bowling games Sunday morning :-)
    • And I made my first jambalaya with chicken and turkey sausage! It was the bomb!!
And now some photos for your viewing pleasure
Proof that I didn't make my PDR up

I love these shoes but they will no longer work for anything over 5 miles

I went to get fitted and yes I walked around the store with two different shoes on.
I decided on the Adidas Sequence 4. I am sorry Nike...I still love you.

Local Austin movie place! It was fantastic. Food and a movie!

Don't be jealous of how hot I look in the 3D glasses

I deserved this margarita after my 8 miles!

Don't let the innocent cute face fool you.
